Botanicals for You – something simple

Hi Crafty Pals,

I am currently typing this with my fingers crossed that my photo recovery software can retrieve the photo of my Something Simple card for today. I was copying them from my camera and while I was navigating to where I wanted them I noticed I had a duplicate set of video files and deleted them. Unfortunately I had selected the photos not the duplicates so ooops they disappeared. Still it’s not too drastic as I can always take them again, but I wanted to try the software anyway as I am sure it won’t be the last time.

My card for today is using the Botanicals for You stamp set which is one of the Stampin’ Up!® Sale-A-Bration products. You can choose one of the Sale-A-Bration selection including Designer Series Paper, Stamp Sets and Project Life® when you spend $60 (before shipping and taxes), but don’t delay as Sale-A-Bration ends 31st March 2016.

bfybirthday

As my schedule has Fridays as being Something Simple I wanted my card to be just that and I think even though it isn’t a single layer card it was still fairly simple as it has the stamped greeting as the focal point of the card and then a flower made from other stamps from the Botanicals for You stamp set.

If you wanted to make it even simpler (but still looking good) you could use some lighter cardstock such as So Saffron or Sahara Sand as the card base and use a couple of sticky notes down the centre of the card to make a border on each side. With the Sponge Daubers add a contrasting colour to the borders (overlapping the sticky notes a bit.) Then remove the sticky notes and stamp the greeting directly on the card. In fact now I’ve written about it for next week I’ll use sticky notes in someway to make a mask woohoo already planning for next week!

Blogging schedule

Hi Crafty Pals,

As a family we have been working on developing our sons executive functioning skills and decided to begin with task initiation. So I am in the process of creating lots of reminder charts for before and after school to act as visual prompts so hopefully I’ll have to give less verbal reminders over time.

While thinking about his to-do’s I realised I am a procrastinator and that was probably a cause of my patchy blogging so I thought while he’s working on his skills I can set a better example and work on mine too 😉

I’m thinking small steps to start (hopefully leading to bigger ones) so I settled on a schedule (and will try to stick to it!).  My plan is to begin by posting 4 times a week:

  • Monday – challenge entry
  • Tuesday – weekly deal update
  • Friday – something simple (e.g. one layer card)
  • Saturday or Sunday – video

This hopefully will lead to more postings and videos as time goes by.  I know I tried once before to stick to a schedule, but I don’t think I was committed to becoming a better role model and in turn a successful demonstrator so I wasn’t motivated.

Something else I am thinking about is doing a featured stamp set so I’d use it for as many different types of cards/projects as I could for 1 month. This idea is definitely something to consider further once I am used to following my schedule as it will take a lot of preparation, research and discipline to do any set justice.

Orchid Thank you card

Hi Crafty Pals,

Welcome to another video this time using the Balloon Builders Stamp Set.

I was inspired by the many, many images on Pinterest using this set. I saw a beautiful daisy style flower and thought maybe I could make something floral.

I have done a much better job at editing and thanks to some advice from an avid YouTube watcher (my son) I even had a go at speeding up sections. He still says I need some music at the beginning and to accompany the sped up parts 🙂 I am just happy I managed to get what I was talking about in the shot this time!

TGIF Challenge #46 and Stampin’ Celebration Challenge #124

Hi Crafty Pals,

This week is March break for us so yesterday we just lounged about and today I decided to get cracking on some crafting.

I was quite busy today to make up for it and made one card for the two challenges and one video. Unfortunately when I looked at the video I had zoomed in so much that you couldn’t see half of what I was referring to so it all ended up being scrapped!

Anyway practice makes perfect and I learnt a lesson about setting up my camera 🙂

This week I decided to combine two challenges TGIF Challenge #46 (see sketch below) and Stampin’ Celebration Challenge #124 (see inspiration image below).

I came up with

Birthday card for TGIFC46 SCC124

The colours on the inspiration challenge made me think of a masculine card (not sure why) and as I had wanted to crack open my A Nice Cuppa Stamp Set and the Cups & Kettle Framelits I knew that somehow I’d combine them and make it work.

Ingredients

Designer Series Paper and Card Stock: Wild Wasabi, Night of Navy and Whisper White

Punches/Die Cuts: Cups & Kettle Framelits and Decorative Label

Classic Stampin’ Pad®: Night of Navy

I recently bought the Bow Builder Punch and can certainly say that I have used it quite a lot already. I have obviously used it for making bows, but the tails also make good flags. I’m not a blingy girl, but I do use the Rhinestone Basic Jewels on projects to add just a touch of sparkle.
